-Chapter Two-
“Mother!” Scarlet called from the front door, holding her satchel across her shoulders. It contained the book about dream visitors, her notebook, and a letter from her parents that she had received when she had gone on her first solo trip to Florida on her tenth birthday. “Scarlet Becker! Where do you think you are going?” Mother stumbled down the stairs, looking confused and slightly angry when she saw the satchel.
“Mother, I’m leaving,”
“You’re leaving?! You can’t leave! You’re thirteen -”
“Mother. I am just going to see the Forest for a few days. I’ll be back before you know it and -”
“A few days! You can’t leave for a few days! Where will you sleep? Where -”
“There will be a bed waiting for me there,” Scarlet said, ignoring her mom’s confused expression. “Bye!” she shouted, before dashing out the door.
